If something is wrong, tell us. We would far rather hear about it early, while it is still easy to put right.

Many of the families who come to us have had to fight to be heard elsewhere. You should not have to do that here. Raising a concern will not count against your child, and it will not change how they are treated.

How to raise something

Start by talking to us. Most things are sorted out with a phone call to your child’s key contact or a member of the leadership team. Ring 01724 454377.

If that does not resolve it, put it in writing to the Head of School, who will look into it and reply to you. Email Holly@pledge2learn.co.uk or write to us at Pledge2Learn, Suite 6, Haldenby House, Berkeley Business Centre, Doncaster Road, Scunthorpe DN15 7DQ.

If you are still not satisfied, your complaint can be heard by a panel that has not been involved before, including someone independent of the school. You will get their decision in writing.

How long it takes

These are all working days, so they don’t include weekends or school holidays. If you raise something during a holiday, we will acknowledge it as soon as we can and the timescales start on the first day of the new term.

Stage 1 — talk to us. We will respond within 5 working days.

Stage 2 — in writing. Put your complaint in writing within 10 working days of our Stage 1 response. We will acknowledge it within 5 working days, investigate within a further 10, and send you a written outcome normally within 5 working days of finishing the investigation.

Stage 3 — panel. Ask for a panel review within 10 working days of the Stage 2 outcome. We will acknowledge your request within 5 working days, and the panel will normally meet within 20 working days. You will have their decision in writing within 7 working days.

If we cannot meet any of these, we will tell you why and agree a new date with you.

Our full complaints procedure is in the policy library.

If you are still not happy

The panel’s decision is the end of our own procedure, but it is not the end of your options.

If you believe we have acted unreasonably, or have failed to carry out our statutory duties, you can write to the Education and Inclusion Service, North Lincolnshire Council, Church Square House, 30–40 High Street, Scunthorpe DN15 6NL, or telephone 01724 296500.

If your child was placed with us by another school, you can also raise it with them. And nothing in our procedure stops you contacting the Department for Education or Ofsted if you believe a registration or regulatory requirement has not been met.

Formal complaints received

Independent schools are required to publish the number of formal complaints registered under their complaints procedure each year. Ours are set out below.

If your concern is about a member of staff

Any concerns or allegations regarding a member of staff must be sent directly to the Head of School. Please avoid using the main safeguarding inbox so we can maintain strict confidentiality. You also have the right to report concerns externally to the North Lincolnshire Local Authority Designated Officer (LADO) at lado@northlincs.gov.uk or 01724 298293.

If you are a local authority

Concerns about a placement should come to Holly, our Head of School, on 01724 454377. We would rather know at the point something starts to wobble than at the annual review.
