Our referral process is short on purpose. You are usually working to a deadline, and a long process helps nobody.
How a referral works
- You send us the paperwork. The EHCP and any recent reports, to admissions@pledge2learn.co.uk.
- We read it and respond within fifteen calendar days, in line with the statutory consultation period. We will tell you whether we believe we can meet need, or what further information would help us decide.
- We meet the young person and their family. Usually here, at their pace. The young person does not have to attend the first visit, but we do need to meet them before we make an offer.
- We may offer a trial period. This gives the student time to see whether the school fits, and gives us time to be sure we can meet their needs.
- We plan the transition together. With the student, the parent or carer, and the case officer, so that we move at the right pace for the student.
- We confirm the offer and agree a start date. Including any phased arrangement for a student who cannot manage full days straight away.
What we need from you
- The current EHCP
- Recent professional reports, including any educational psychology or CAMHS involvement
- Attendance and behaviour history, including any risk assessments
- Details of previous placements and why they ended
Please send everything, including the difficult parts. A referral that omits a known risk helps nobody, and we would rather plan for it than discover it in week three.
Fees
There are no costs required from a parent/ carer.
Fees are worked out based on the needs of each child as outlined in their EHCP. These costs are provided to the local authority at the beginning of each term. There are no costs required from a parent/ carer unless for example you chose to purchase additional school uniform.
Transport
Students travel to us from all across North Lincolnshire. Most arrive via council-arranged transport through North Lincolnshire SEN Transport. Where eligible, the caseworker will complete the transport application with parents/ carers during the admissions process.
For students who do not qualify for council transport, parents and carers either arrange drop-off and collection themselves or agree with us on safe, independent travel options (walking or cycling).
