The honest answer? We don’t know yet – but we are ready to find out with you.

The young people who come to us

We support young people aged 11 to 16. Most of our students have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP), and their main challenges relate to how they feel, process, and cope, rather than learning ability alone.

Common Journeys to Us

Families usually reach us after a breaking point. You might recognise your child in one of these stories:

  • School Avoidance: They haven’t been able to get past the school entrance in months.
  • Exclusion: Traditional mainstream environments could no longer accommodate their needs.
  • Masking & Burnout: They spent years holding everything together during the school day, only to fall apart at home, until it was no longer sustainable.

Because real learning requires feeling safe, many of our young people arrive with gaps in their education – often after spending long periods isolated in their bedrooms. If this sounds familiar, please know you are not alone, and it is not your fault.

Where We Start We don’t expect your child to adapt to us overnight. We focus first on rebuilding safety, trust, and self-belief—so that learning can naturally follow.

Many have gaps in their learning, because you cannot learn much from a bedroom. This is a familiar story that we hear from parents/ carers.

This might be the right place if

  • Big schools, busy corridors and unpredictable days are part of why things went wrong
  • Your child does better when adults know them properly
  • They need to rebuild confidence before they can rebuild attendance
  • You want them to leave with qualifications and with the practical skills to manage on their own

It might not be the right place if

We are not the right school for every young person, and we would rather say so than let a placement fail.

This is a small day school in a converted setting, so we are probably not the right place if:

  • your child’s main needs are not to do with social, emotional and mental health
  • they need nursing or regular medical care during the school day
  • they need a residential placement
  • they need a wide range of GCSE options and the specialist facilities of a large school
  • they need a level of supervision or physical space that our site cannot safely provide

None of this is a judgement about your child. It is about what we have here, and being honest about it now is better than finding out in a term’s time.

If you are not sure whether any of this applies, call us anyway. We would rather talk it through than have you rule us out from reading a website.

What we will not do

We will not tell you we can help if we do not think we can. If we are not the right school, we will say so, and we will try to help you think about what might be.

How to find out

Come and look. Bring your questions, including the ones you think sound silly; they will not.
